Community Guidelines

LOOKD is for photographing what you wear and, if you want to, selling it. These are the rules that make that possible for everybody. They apply to photographs, captions, listings, brand pages, albums and messages alike.

Every rule below is something you can report. The list in the app is this list.

Nudity and sexual content

Do not post sexual content, or nudity presented sexually.

  • LOOKD is about clothes, and clothes are worn on bodies. Swimwear, underwear and lingerie photographed as garments are allowed, and so is the body wearing them.
  • What is not allowed is content whose subject is sex rather than what is being worn: explicit acts, exposed genitals, and imagery framed to arouse rather than to show a garment.
  • This applies to captions, listing descriptions and direct messages as much as to photographs.

Children

Do not post, request, or send anything that sexualises a person under 18. There are no exceptions and no context that makes it acceptable.

  • This goes further than illegal material. Any content that contributes to the sexualisation of a minor is removed, whether or not it would meet a legal threshold anywhere.
  • It covers imagery, captions, listing text and messages, and it covers content about a minor as much as content of one.
  • LOOKD is for people aged 13 and over. Accounts found to belong to someone younger are removed.
  • Reports in this category are treated ahead of everything else. Where the law requires it we report to the authorities and preserve the material rather than deleting it — see the note at the end.

Harassment and bullying

Do not target a person with abuse, humiliation, or unwanted contact.

  • Repeatedly contacting somebody who has stopped replying, or reaching them from a second account after being blocked, is harassment regardless of what is said.
  • Commentary on somebody’s body is the form this most often takes here, and being about clothing does not exempt it.
  • You can block anybody, from anywhere in the app. It takes them out of your feed, your closet, your search and the Market, in both directions.

Hate

Do not attack people for who they are, or display symbols that exist to do so.

  • Race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability and serious illness.
  • Hateful symbols and slogans are not allowed on a garment being sold, in a caption, or on a brand page.

Violence and threats

Do not threaten anybody, and do not celebrate or encourage violence.

  • Threats are removed whether or not we believe them to be credible; the effect on the person receiving one does not depend on our assessment.
  • This includes threats made in a listing dispute, which is the place they most often appear on a marketplace.

Self-harm

Do not encourage self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating.

  • Content that promotes or instructs is removed. Content describing somebody’s own recovery is not.
  • A fashion platform is a place where bodies are compared, so content that presents extreme thinness as an aspiration falls under this rule.
  • If you are struggling, a report is not the right tool — please contact a local crisis line.

Scams and fraud

Do not use LOOKD to take money for something you will not send.

  • Every sale goes through checkout. Asking a buyer to pay another way — a bank transfer, a payment app, a link — removes the escrow and the protection that exist for both of you, and is not permitted.
  • The seller is paid after delivery, and the buyer has an inspection window. Anybody trying to move you off that arrangement is trying to remove it.

Counterfeits

Do not list a replica as authentic.

  • Selling a counterfeit is not allowed. Nor is describing one as "inspired by", "dupe", "mirror" or "unauthorised" while using a brand’s name to sell it.
  • Vintage, reworked and unbranded pieces are welcome — the rule is about a false claim of origin, not about the garment.
  • Rights holders can report a listing here like anybody else, and we act on it.

What may not be sold

Do not list goods that may not lawfully be shipped or sold.

  • Weapons, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, prescription items, live animals, human remains, and stolen goods.
  • Products of endangered species, including ivory and protected furs, skins and shells.
  • Anything a carrier will not accept. If it cannot be posted it cannot be sold here.

Impersonation

Do not pretend to be another person, brand, or business.

  • Using somebody’s name, photographs or brand identity to make an account look like theirs.
  • Claiming a brand page you do not represent.
  • Fan and parody accounts are fine when they are clearly labelled as such.

Spam

Do not post repetitively, or use LOOKD mainly to drive people somewhere else.

  • Bulk or automated posting, engagement schemes, and unsolicited promotional messages.
  • Linking out is allowed and normal — a piece can carry a link, and it carries a disclosure. Using the platform purely as a funnel is not.

Anything else

If something is wrong and no category above describes it, report it and tell us what happened.

  • The list above is not exhaustive, and the reports filed here are how it gets extended.

What happens when a rule is broken

Limited

The content stays where it is and stops being promoted. It keeps its own page and its place in the closet it belongs to; it does not appear in Discover, in search, or in recommendations. Most decisions land here, because most reports are judgement calls and deleting somebody’s work over a judgement call is the wrong response.

Removed

The content comes off every surface. Its author can still see it, with the reason attached, so that there is something to appeal about.

Withheld

For material that must not be shown to anybody. It is retained rather than deleted, because where the law requires us to report something it also requires us to preserve it — destroying it would serve nobody and would remove the evidence.

Accounts

An account can be suspended or removed for a serious breach, or for repeated ones. Where a sale is in progress, money already held is returned to the buyer.

If we act on something of yours, you will be told what and why, and you can reply to that notice to appeal it.

Children

Where we become aware of material that sexually exploits a child, we report it to the relevant authority and preserve it as the law requires. This is not a discretion we hold, and it is not affected by anything else in this document.

LOOKD is for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child is at risk on LOOKD, report it in the app — those reports are read first — or write to safety@lookd.app, which reaches the person responsible for this policy.
